About Us

Welcome to Tumbleweed Landscaping, your trusted partner in landscape construction across Penticton, BC, and the surrounding areas. With over 20 years of expertise, specializing in crafting beautiful, sustainable outdoor areas customized to your vision.

We are Holly irving and Charlie Halpin and have been operating business successfully together for over 18 years.

Bringing 20 years experience from the legal profession and having spent the majority of those years in a downtown Toronto law firm assisting the Director of Professional Development I was able to develop and hone my project management skills. Paying attention to all the details, no matter how small, meant the success of a professional development program. Applying these same practices, principles and skills at Tumbleweed Landscaping is how I effectively manage and ensure our client’s landscape project is a successful one.

I believe that our clients deserve the best customer care and service. That means affording them a high level of professionalism and courtesy, no different then the customer service and professionalism I would expect to receive.  From the first contact, it's my responsibility to make sure the customer feels incredibly satisfied after working with Tumbleweed Landscaping.

Landscape construction is a multifaceted discipline that encompasses various techniques and materials to create functional and aesthetically pleasing outdoor spaces. With over 20 years of experience in the field, professionals in this industry have honed their skills in several key areas, including hardscaping, xeriscaping, and irrigation systems.

Hardscaping refers to the use of non-plant elements in landscape design, such as patios, walkways, and retaining walls. This aspect of landscaping is critical for establishing the structural integrity of outdoor spaces. Materials commonly used in hardscaping include manufactured stones from reputable suppliers such as Barkman, Belgard, and Basolite. These materials not only provide durability but also enhance the visual appeal of landscapes.

Xeriscaping is a water-efficient landscaping method that is particularly relevant in regions with limited water resources. This technique involves selecting drought-resistant plants and employing efficient irrigation systems to minimize water usage. Implementing xeriscaping can lead to a reduction in water consumption by up to 50%, making it an environmentally sustainable choice for homeowners and businesses alike.

Irrigation systems are essential for maintaining healthy landscapes, especially in arid climates. Modern irrigation solutions, such as drip systems and smart controllers, can optimize water usage and ensure that plants receive adequate moisture. Proper installation and maintenance of these systems can significantly enhance plant health and reduce water waste.

Artificial Turf has gained popularity due to its low maintenance requirements and aesthetic versatility. Artificial turf can provide a lush, green appearance year-round without the need for regular mowing or watering, making it an attractive option for residential and commercial properties.

Soil quality is another critical factor in landscape construction. The use of high-quality soil and mulch can improve plant growth and overall landscape health. It is essential to choose the right type of soil for specific plants and conditions, as this can impact drainage, nutrient availability, and root development. We also have fertilizer, compost and manure additives.

Aggregate. We have over 50 types of Rock, Stone, Gravel, Decorative, Lava, Basalt, Bluestone, K Mountain and many more.

Excavation. For projects requiring excavation, utilizing equipment such as bobcats or excavators can expedite the process and ensure precision. These machines are invaluable for preparing sites for new installations, whether it be for planting, laying sod, or installing hardscape features.

Delivery. In addition to providing materials and services we offer delivery options for bulk materials. This can include delivering 1-yard bags or full loads of up to 8 yards, ensuring that clients have access to the necessary resources for their projects. We only deliver bulk orders up to 8 yards for our landscape clients. For delivery only call Sandstone Landscaping Supplies. But we supply and deliver 1 yard jumbo bags.

DIY Saturdays. Engagement with clients is also a vital component of successful landscape construction. For instance, having experienced personnel available for consultation, such as during designated DIY Saturdays, can empower clients to make informed decisions about their landscaping projects. This approach fosters a collaborative environment where expertise and client vision align to create exceptional outdoor spaces. Charlie is at Sandstone every Saturday from March till October. Please visit and ask questions about your project.
